To be successful in marketing, you have to be able to sell just about anything to just about anyone. You can't do this without earning their trust, however, and one of the best ways to build trust is with proof.

What kind of proof do you need? Well, for an online marketer, you have lots of options: screenshots, testimonials, Facebook likes, sales numbers, the list goes on and on. It's virtually impossible to have too much proof, and the more you have, the better your sales will likely be.

If you don't know how to properly utilize proof elements to boost your sales, read on to find everything you need to know.

Show 'Em the Books

If you're promising to do some amazing thing for your customers, like make their sales skyrocket or shrink their waist in weeks, then you need to show them that you've done it before. After all, why should they trust you if you can prove that your system works?

For financial products, screenshots of bank accounts or check stubs are great proof. If you can show them that you know how to make money, because you've done it yourself, then they'll be sure to think you can do it for them, too. And the more zeros you have in those accounts, the higher the value of the proof will be.

For other products, show proof that it can do what you say it does. Before and after photos are some of the strongest proof you can find, because people relate to seeing other people succeed (which makes them think they can succeed, which makes them want to buy your product). Demonstrations are fantastic as well.

Be the Popular Kid

People instinctively trust something if they know that other people trust it. If you can show that you've had hundreds of satisfied customers, people will assume that you're doing something right. After all, people wouldn't keep going back (or write glowing testimonials) if you were ripping them off, right?

Collect as many testimonials and reviews as you can. If you can set up a Facebook page, show how many "likes" your page gets. Even something as simple as showing that you're a top-selling product can be huge. Anything that shows that lots of people have already trusted you.

Fruits of Your Labor

Another extremely powerful proof element is to show people what they can do after they buy your product, and how it will change their lives in amazing ways. Got a muscle building program for guys? Showing a fat guy who lost a lot of weight is good...showing a fat guy who lost a lot of weight and is now surrounded by beautiful women is even better.

For financial products, show the kinds of cars they'll drive, the houses they'll live in, the freedom they'll have. If you engage your customer emotionally like this, you can seriously get your hooks into them and have them practically craving your product.

Proven Winner

If you can show effective proof why your product is superior, you'll be way ahead of the game in terms of selling. Great copy and flashy design simply can't compete with cold, hard proof. With this guide, you should be well on your way to creating the rock-solid proof you need to get ahead- and stay there.
